Long Island ASTA
HAITI APPEAL
As you've no doubt heard and seen, the
devastation in Haiti is horrific. Although not a big one, Haiti is a
tourist destination and deserves our support for that as well as the
obvious moral issues. We can't hop on a plane to help, but we can make a
donation to a worthy organization that can make a difference. The Board
of Long Island ASTA has made a donation to Doctors Without Borders (Médecins
Sans Frontières) based on the good work that they have done in the past
in Haiti and what they are doing there now. You can check out their work

We hope you will consider making a personal or office
donation to them or one of the many other worthy organizations that are
doing relief work there.

Responsible Tourism - Everyday!
A few suggestions for agencies that are looking to get involved: Plant a
tree to offset carbon emissions, donate money to a reputable tourism
cause, or organize a
clean-up at a local historic sight. Regardless of the initiative,
ASTA encourages all members to take action to ensure the success of
Responsible Tourism.
LI ASTA supports the conservation efforts of Chandra Gurung
Conservation Trust and encourages its members to learn more and
contribute at Chandra Gurung
Trust.
