Japan Relief Efforts: How You Can Help
In the wake of the
devastating earthquake and tsunami that hit Japan last week, ASTA wishes
to express its deepest sympathies to those affected by this tragedy, as
well as to the friends and families of its victims. If you or your
company want to provide assistance to the Japanese people in recovering
from this catastrophic event, you may wish to consider donating to a
charitable organization that is actively working to assist those in
need. InterAction, an alliance of U.S.-based international
nongovernmental aid organizations, has compiled a list of organizations
that are currently accepting donations for the Japan relief effort.
A few suggestions for agencies that are looking to get involved: Plant a
tree to offset carbon emissions, donate money to a reputable tourism
cause, or organize a
clean-up at a local historic sight. Regardless of the initiative,
ASTA encourages all members to take action to ensure the success of
Responsible Tourism.
